Raymarine Announces Full Integration with Rhodan

Hudson, N.H. – Raymarine, global leaders in high-performance marine electronics for the recreational boating, marine first responder, and law enforcement markets, announced today its line of Axiom chartplotters are now completely integrated with Rhodan’s full line of trolling motors. Designed for boats ranging from a small skiff to a 42-foot center console, Rhodan trolling motors range in size from 12v up to 36v in a range of shaft lengths up to 108 inches.

“Raymarine Axiom 2 Pro and XL, which were built specifically for the saltwater angler, offers the most extensive and easy-to-use Rhodan trolling motor control available,” said Jamie Dery, Vice President – Americas, Raymarine. “Working closely with Rhodan engineers, we have integrated their controls into the Axiom side bar delivering full trolling motor control directly from the display and providing a seamless transition between trolling motor and our Evolution autopilot. This functionality is going to be a great addition for our loyal customers, expanding options in equipment selection and making their boating experience even more enjoyable.”

“Rhodan’s GPS Anchor is a key feature for saltwater fishing,” said Kyle Hagen, Vice President of Rhodan Marine Systems. “With Raymarine and Rhodan you can maintain position over your favorite fishing spot or structure and enjoy precision touch screen motor control when fishing a drift. We are confident that anglers of all levels of experience are going to love this winning combination.”

In Manual Mode anglers can control their trolling motor from their Axiom just as they would from the Rhodan key fob. They can increase and decrease thrust, including reverse and adjust the motor’s direction, which is clearly shown on the display. With Hold Heading Mode, users can maintain a heading and adjust it in 1-degree increments. In this mode, users can also increase thrust up and down, or dial in a specific speed, which is extremely valuable for anglers wanting to precisely control the boat’s speed.

The Anchor Here feature locks the boat on a particular spot using Rhodan’s HD GPS technology. The motor automatically compensates for wind and current to hold the boat on station. The precision of this control is such that pressing any of the directional controls adjusts the boat’s virtual anchor point in five-foot increments, the perfect solution for hovering over a favorite fishing spot without needing to drop anchor.

Finally, in Navigation Mode, users can navigate to a single waypoint or follow a route of sequential waypoints. The boat’s speed of advance can be controlled by dialing in an exact speed or thrust level. Upon reaching the destination, the trolling motor will automatically move into anchor mode to hold the boat at that spot.

Autopilot-equipped boats also enjoy a seamless navigation experience when they transition from trolling motor to traditional autopilot and back. Raymarine’s integration with Rhodan can automatically detect whether the trolling motor is stowed or deployed, enabling Axiom to steer the trolling motor when it is active, and then control a Raymarine Evolution autopilot when the Rhodan motor is stowed. This powerful combination makes the Raymarine-Rhodan solution easier to use than any other saltwater system on the market today.

Raymarine and Rhodan are demonstrating the Axiom integration at the 2023 ICAST trade show. Rhodan integration with Axiom will be available in the fall of 2023, with the forthcoming release of LightHouse 4.5, the operating system for all Raymarine Axiom chartplotters.

Garmin announces advanced boat control integration with Power-Pole shallow water anchors

OLATHE, Kan./July 6, 2023/PR Newswire — Garmin (NYSE: GRMN), the world’s most innovative and recognized marine electronics manufacturer, today announced expanded system integration with Power-Pole®, the industry leader in shallow water anchors, to offer anglers a remarkably advanced and more automated boat control experience when fishing in shallow water.

“We are excited to build on our existing Power-Pole functionality that allows anglers to stow and deploy their Power-Pole anchors from their Garmin chartplotter. The new features integrate trolling motor and shallow water anchor equipment to automate boat control so anglers can spend more time fishing and less time positioning their boat.” –Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of global consumer sales

Coupled with an award-winning Garmin Force® trolling motor or new Force Kraken, anglers with a compatible Garmin chartplotter and a dual Power-Pole anchor setup can take advantage of the advanced anchor system integration to access new boat control features, including:

Smart Anchor – The smart anchor feature enables the chartplotter to detect current water depth and decide whether to use the Force trolling motor’s anchor lock capability – or automatically deploy the Power-Pole anchors into shallow water – to help hold the boat’s position over fishing hotspots.

Smart Anchor Jog – When using the trolling motor to jog, the Power-Pole anchors will automatically stow, and the trolling motor will jog to a new position. Smart anchor selection will occur at the new anchor position, and the Power-Pole anchors will either redeploy to hold the angler’s position or the Force anchor lock feature will engage.

Drag Detection – If winds, waves or strong currents cause the Power-Pole anchors to drag, the paired chartplotter can detect the movement and stow the Power-Pole anchors, allowing the trolling motor to maneuver the boat back to the originally selected anchoring position, where the Power-Pole anchors will automatically redeploy.

End of Route – When using the Force trolling motor’s auto routing capability1 to follow select pathways, this feature engages the smart anchor mode when the angler has reached the end of their route. The Power-Pole anchors will automatically deploy if the water is shallow enough for anchoring, or in deeper water, the Force anchor lock capability will engage.
