Manufacturer of Wireless Yacht Remote Controls Now Compatible with Volvo’s EVC Gateway
Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Dockmate, manufacturer of advanced wireless remote controls for yachts, announced today it has received official factory approval from Volvo Penta. After extensive testing for any potential compatibility issues, Dockmate has obtained approval to connect to the Volvo Penta electronic vessel control EVC-E and EVC-2. Dockmate is the only wireless control manufacturer that has authorization to do so.
Delivering plug-and-play connectivity with engine and thruster systems, Dockmate’s wireless remote control allows users to remain in command of their boat’s movement while away from the helm, where visibility is often limited. Building on its highly successful partnership, the Dockmate system is now approved to integrate fluidly with Volvo’s complete line of drive-by-wire steering systems such as the Volvo Inboard Performance Systems (IPS), Aquamatic and Inboard systems.
“Our focus on creating a stress-free docking experience is perfectly aligned with Volvo’s ‘easy boating’ philosophy,” said Brian Sheehan, Dockmate U.S. spokesperson. “The brand’s drive-by-wire engine control systems pair effortlessly with our plug-and-play remote controls; combining to give our customers incredible power and control over their vessels in tight quarter maneuvering.”

M300 Series Combines Thermal and High-Definition Visible Imaging for Increased Situational Awareness and Safer Navigation
FLIR Systems today announced the FLIR M300 Series, a new generation of maritime thermal cameras delivering advanced awareness-enhancing technologies, safer navigation, and seamless integration with onboard boat systems. FLIR M300 Series cameras are designed for the most demanding professional mariners and first responders who operate in the harshest marine environments.
The successor to FLIR’s industry-leading M-Series of maritime cameras, the next generation M300 Series consists of five models featuring rugged and robust new pan and tilt housings – four models with the FLIR BosonTM 640 or 320 resolution thermal camera cores and various fixed field of view (FoV) lenses, plus a visible-only model, the M300C, featuring a high-definition, color, low-light camera with 30X zoom.
The M300 Series cameras facilitate safer navigation through improved image stabilization using an integrated attitude heading reference system (AHRS) sensor, providing captains with a steady view in rough seas. The M300 Series is also designed to integrate with the latest-generation marine navigation displays, including FLIR’s award-winning Raymarine Axiom® family of multifunction displays.
The dual sensor M364C and M364C LR offer mariners greater awareness via FLIR’s patented Color Thermal VisionTM (CTV) technology. This proprietary multispectral imaging technology for the FLIR M300 Series and FLIR’s Raymarine Axiom line of navigation displays blends thermal and high-definition visible color video for enhanced identification of buoys, vessels and other targets at night. Additionally, the M364C and M364C LR models feature FLIR’s patented MSX® imaging technology, which extracts edges and borders from the HD visible camera and blends these elements with the thermal image, giving operators improved visual recognition of distant objects.
“Our FLIR M300 Series cameras employ advanced sensing and imaging technologies so first responders, commercial mariners, and recreational boaters can navigate safer in limited visibility,” says Travis Merrill, President of the Commercial Business Unit at FLIR. “These professional-grade marine camera offer industry-leading performance and deep integration with Raymarine Axiom navigation displays to bring mariners a new level of situational awareness.”
The FLIR M300 Series camera models are available now through FLIR’s network of maritime dealers and retailers. For more information about the FLIR M300 Series, visit http://www.flir.com/m300-Series/.
Raymarine Axiom Now Supports Yamaha Command Link Integration
FLIR is pleased to announce the addition of Yamaha Command Link and Command Link Plus integration into Raymarine’s family of Axiom® multifunction displays. This new capability is one of many new features introduced with the recent release of the LightHouse Annapolis 3.9 operating system for Axiom.
Certified by Yamaha, Raymarine’s Axiom series of multifunction can now display the instrumentation for up to 4 Yamaha outboard engines on a single display. The Axiom engine data display echoes the look and feel of Yamaha’s digital instrument displays and is compatible with a wide array of Yamaha outboards installed on existing boats as well as on new boats.
Raymarine’s integration with Yamaha outboards gives boaters a big-screen view of engine parameters, tank levels, battery status, and more. Raymarine and Yamaha integration is ideal for boats with towers and secondary control stations, allowing captains to see exactly what’s happening with their engines from any networked Raymarine Axiom display.
Just about any boat with Yamaha Command Link or Command Link Plus can be integrated with Raymarine’s Axiom multifunction displays using Yamaha’s optional NMEA 2000 gateway and pigtail. Boats equipped with Yamaha Helm Master or Set Point systems can also integrate with Raymarine using Yamaha’s optional NMEA 2000 gateway (6YG) and Yamaha’s CL7 display.
In addition to Yamaha Command Link integration, LightHouse Annapolis 3.9 adds several other major features and enhancements for Raymarine Axiom. The free LightHouse Annapolis 3.9 OS update is available now for Axiom, Axiom Pro, Axiom XL, eS Series and gS Series.
Dockmate® offers the latest in advanced, yet very affordable, wireless remote control technology for your boat. Dockmate® will allow you to operate your boats electronically – controlled engines, thrusters, anchor winch and horn from anywhere on your boat using a small handheld device! You can now dock your boat alone, if necessary, with ease and without stress! As yachtsmen with over 40 years of experience, we had hoped to find an affordable wireless remote control system that would simplify the oftentimes difficult boat docking experience.
After many years of building prototypes and extensive testing, we have developed several highly-reliable and superb remote control products: the Dockmate® Single, Twin, Twist and Twist IPS (Integrated Propulsion System). Dockmate® allows every skipper to dock his boat single – handedly, as he is able to leave the helm and get a much closer look at his surroundings in marinas and other tight quarters, while still in complete control of the boat’s movement!
